Hooked on Fishing
Located in the scenic Hudson Valley, the club promotes conservation efforts and supports youth-related fishing activities.
On September 26, club members attended a National Hunting and Fishing Day event in Congers, NY and the Pearl River Gun Club Youth Expo in Orangeburg, NY, to educate kids on the proper disposal of worn soft plastic baits and litter prevention.
At the Congers event, the Department of Environmental Conservation distributed fishing tackle and live bait in plastic baggies so that kids could fish along the shoreline. According to club founder Mike Osterhoudt, “In the past, these baggies were discarded on the ground. This year, thanks to the Pledge to Pitch It campaign, kids sought out the garbage cans to throw away the baggies. The Pledge to Pitch It message was well received by all.”
